Toll road unit
Many Japanese import Leafs come with one of these aftermarket electronic gadgets. They're for dealing with the toll road system in Japan, and don't achieve anything in New Zealand. Unplugging them can simplify the car's voice greeting, because it no longer reminds you to put your card into the toll road unit.
Tips for unplugging the wires instead of cutting them (because there will usually be at least 1 live 12V wire): the plugs have tabs, push them in and firmly pull them out. Feel free to cut the little speaker off the window after you have unplugged the unit. Source
